Colony life: food, farming, care & crafting

Updated October 26, 2026 · Maintained by the site team

Use the system references below to connect food production, clothing, waste handling and everyday colony work.

Reviewed build: 0.1.190.146 FULL FIXED R4 · October 26, 2026. Built against RimWorld 1.6.4871. DLC requirements are listed below.

Food and drink

Smoking and drying racks separate loading from timed processing. Eligible batches use one-for-one output, while frogs, crayfish and crabs are excluded, including their prepared meat. Rice mash must ferment into a finished alcoholic drink before it can serve that purpose.

Plants, hives and seasons

Plant actual seeds or saplings rather than treating edible fruit and nuts as planting stock. Seed chances depend on plant group and mature harvest. Seasonal tree artwork and the .142 height change affect appearance; they do not turn a future story questline into shipped content.

Rooms, clothing and useful objects

Raw hide tanning and loom processing provide usable materials. Bone furniture adds beds, a crib, dining pieces, thrones and a research skeleton. The revised Envoy Robe can be made by an eligible fox crafter with Crafting 5, from one permitted fabric, leather or raw-hide type.

Care and troubleshooting

A hunger multiplier is not an alcohol-dependency treatment. A medical work-speed aid is not a surgery-success bonus. Keep those distinctions in mind when checking a pawn’s needs or planning a room.

Only the first calming attempt can begin automatically. A second requires a direct player order and a different helper, with at most two attempts per break. For any stalled job, confirm work priorities, access, ingredients and the exact installed revision.
