Distinguish edible harvests from plantable seeds, and check each cultivar's research, biome and DLC conditions.
Reviewed build: 0.1.190.146 FULL FIXED R4 · October 26, 2026. Built against RimWorld 1.6.4871. DLC requirements are listed below.
Set up the system
- Read the seed or sapling description for planting requirements.
- Plant actual seeds; orchard fruit and nuts are food rather than seed items.
- Allow plants to reach their required growth stage before expecting harvest or seed rolls.
- Use Orders > Harvest for mature harvestable grass; work priorities alone do not designate it.
- Check seasonal appearance alongside room warmth, roof cover and local snow.
Current rules and limits
- Ripe-harvest seed chances differ by group: ordinary orchard/grapes 10%, base GMO 5%, mutant cultivars 2.5%, Amberheart/Glassleaf 1%. Immature plants give no seeds.
- The .142 native-drawing height adjustment is 40% relative to .141 with width and ground anchor retained.
- The .146 grass revision supports seven forage-grass definitions when their required DLC definitions exist. Harvest above 65% growth leaves 20% growth.
- The sparse Bio-Arbor vault is an exploration ruin, not the proposed dedicated story questline.
Seed reference
| Mature harvest group | Seed chance |
|---|---|
| Ordinary orchard trees and grapes | 10% |
| Base GMO | 5% |
| Mutant cultivars | 2.5% |
| Amberheart and Glassleaf | 1% |
These are group-specific ripe-harvest chances, not guaranteed yields or a single universal 1% roll. Immature plants give no seeds. The fruit or nut food item is distinct from its planting seed.
Appearance and performance
The seasonal art pass covers 26 native tree types with shared seasonal palettes across 21 GMO trees. The .142 change adds 40% drawing height relative to .141 while retaining width and ground anchor. Later work distributes visual updates across ticks; it does not supply a universal performance benchmark.
Exploration and future work
A sparse Bio-Arbor vault is an exploration ruin. The dedicated story questline remains proposed work. Use the implemented ruin, planting and harvesting rules when documenting a colony, and keep planned story content separate.
