Material roofing is an optional testing system. Use a backed-up colony and inspect the exact controls in your installed build.
Reviewed build: 0.1.190.146 FULL FIXED R4 · October 26, 2026. Built against RimWorld 1.6.4871. DLC requirements are listed below.
Set up the system
- Search roof in Tool Progression's Mod options.
- Read the IN TESTING description before enabling the feature.
- Use the mod's roof-view and construction/removal controls for the selected roof type.
- Check research, materials, supporting construction and worker tool access.
- Test construction, removal, save/reload and normal colony performance on a small area first.
Current rules and limits
- The material-roof system defaults OFF. A website demo switch does not change the game.
- The roof search and overlay passes target particular problems; they are not a guarantee against every stutter.
- Keep the release notes for the exact package when comparing reports from older roofing builds.
Keep the test small
Start with a backed-up colony and a small supported area. Test construction, the roof overlay, removal and save/reload before covering a large settlement. Confirm the selected roof’s research, materials and worker-tool requirements in the installed build.
Investigate a slowdown
Record whether the slowdown appears with the option enabled, with the overlay visible, during construction or during removal. Compare the same small area before adding unrelated systems. The earlier roof and visual fixes address particular paths; they are not a promise that every mod combination is free of stutter.
Use the correct controls
The website configurator demonstrates options but does not change them. In-game material roofing remains marked as testing and defaults OFF. Do not infer behavior from an earlier screenshot of a differently named roof type.
