A rare item is more memorable when it carries the name of its former owner and a reason to keep it. October's heirloom work builds on boss and ancient-creature rewards with connected histories, saved skill talents and a small chance of an item-bound daily power.

Preserve the story through the material

The .118 history work follows faction-related bosses through corpses, dried skeletons, recovered bones, skulls, hides, heirlooms and crafted descendants. Mixed-origin crafts retain the relevant source histories. Later construction work snapshots ingredient histories before the materials are consumed, so the newly completed building receives the history rather than an unrelated older object.

The .125 display fix addresses duplicate quality text and blank inspection lines. The .140 audit restores missing boss crest and torque textures. These maintenance changes matter because provenance should be legible when a player inspects an item, not hidden behind a broken icon or a repeated label.

A skill talent that stays with the item

Eligible wearable or equippable heirlooms from bosses, faction leaders and existing rare ancient-creature encounters receive one saved random skill talent. A 25% roll adds a second, different skill. All twelve native skills are in the pool. Each talent grants one, two or three effective levels, with documented probabilities of 70%, 25% and 5%.

Combined item bonuses cap at +3 for each skill. Learned levels, experience, native limits and disabled work remain intact. The benefit applies while worn or equipped, not merely carried in an inventory or toolbelt. Existing percentage-stat bonuses continue alongside the new talent.

A rare power, with a real cooldown

Five percent of eligible items also receive a saved daily power. Echo stun targets a visible hostile pawn within twelve tiles. Psyfocus surge restores fifteen percentage points up to the normal cap. Neural cooling removes up to twenty neural heat. Calming memory grants +4 mood for six game hours without stacking.

The psychic powers require Royalty, a psylink and psychic sensitivity. Without Royalty, the rare-power roll selects Calming memory. These are commands on the item, not permanently learned psycasts. A successful use starts a rolling 60,000-tick cooldown that survives transfers, repair, inheritance and save/load. Invalid targets and blocked uses do not consume the charge.

Keep the reward without rerolling it

The talents-and-daily-powers option defaults ON. Disabling it pauses the new benefits without erasing rolls or cooldowns. Eligible existing items receive deterministic talents when loaded or first equipped, preserving their original names, quality, history and previous bonuses. Reopening a save is not a way to reroll the reward.

Twenty new connected backstories expand the pool from 38 to 58, with new setting details and disasters. Existing written histories remain unchanged. Ordinary crafting materials, anonymous gear and decorative trophies do not receive these wearable benefits. Live testing should check an eligible item's inspection, worn effect, command, cooldown and save/reload behavior together; isolated checks cover only their specified code paths.
