Reinforced buildings and colony defenses
Plan stronger construction around research, materials, worker access and roof support.
Unlock reinforced construction
- Finish Machining, then research Reinforcing Building Materials.
- Choose an available reinforced wall or door and provide its listed stone, steel and plasteel.
- Assign Construction and give the builder a usable hammer or construction drill.
- Keep the work route and exact construction plan reachable.
- For reinforced autodoors, also complete Autodoor research and provide components and power.
Keep roofs separate
Reinforced walls and doors are separate from the optional material-roof system. Ordinary RimWorld roofing remains the default. Material roof panels require the roof option to be enabled and completed supports.
Unsupported coverage can still collapse. Do not remove a support just because a panel looks substantial. Preserve doors and access routes while building.
Inspect a blocked job
Check research, the selected material type, usable tools, construction skill and reservations. For layered unfinished work, use the builder’s Construction orders menu to select the exact plan. Wall-mounted fixtures need their completed support wall.
After changing roofing modes, return to the map so the change can apply. Test a small area and keep a separate save before trying experimental roof behavior.
